Knight, Clarence Clarence Knight, age 89, of Shelton, formerly of Monroe, passed away peacefully at Bishop Wicke Health Center, Shelton, on February 6, 2017. He was born on Sept. 4, 1927 in Manatee, FL to the late Isaac and Lizzie Smart Knight. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for many years. Clarence was a U.S. Army Veteran and was honorably discharged, serving from 1948 – 1954. He enjoyed being active at the Barnum Festival and was Co-Chairman and Chairman for the 1976-1982 Fireworks and in 1977 was Co-Chairman of the Pony Rides. He and his wife Lilo found great pleasure in traveling to many European countries and made new friends. His greatest joy was dancing, he was a very accomplished Ballroom dancer and always ready to hit the dance floor. He is survived by his brother Raymond and his wife Flossie Knight of Dumfries, VA, his step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Roosevelt, McKinley, Shelly, Turner, Gene and 2 Sisters, Rachel and Dorothy and his ex-wife Lilo. The family would like to thank the staff of Wesley Heights at Wesley Village and Bishop Wicke Health Center for the love, compassion and care they showed to Clarence. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11 a. m. at the Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church St., Monroe, CT. Interment will be private.
