Clarence Darrow Beech, Jr. Birmingham August 27, 1931 - April 14, 2017 BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA -- Clarence Darrow "C.D." Beech, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, passed away at the age of 85 on April 14, 2017 at his home in Birmingham surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 27, 1931 in Hattiesburg, MS to Clarence Darrow Beech, Sr. and Mary Jo Day Beech. He was preceded in death by his parents and his devoted wife of 64 years, Jeanne Bounds Beech. Although C.D. and Jeanne resided in Birmingham for 42 years, both were natives of Hattiesburg, MS and in the course of his 40 year career with AT&T had also lived in Jackson, MS; New Orleans, LA and Nashville, TN. He is survived by his three children, Renee Beech of Memphis, TN; Randy Beech (Claudia) of Birmingham, AL; Regina Beech of Smyrna, TN; his sister Charlotte Beech Harris (Jack) of Hattiesburg, MS; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. C.D. was educated in the Hattiesburg school system graduating from HHS in 1949 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. Following graduation he earned a degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Immediately after leaving MSU, he served as an Auditor in the United States Air Force where he and his family were stationed in Japan during the ending of the Korean War. After completion of military service, Mr. Beech began his career with the phone company serving in various Accounting Management positions and earning recognition as a member of the President's "White Hat Club". Outside of his career C. D. enjoyed assisting with duties at church, working in his yard and playing golf with friends. He was a member of Altadena Valley Golf and Country Club as well as Brookwood Baptist, Briarwood Presbyterian Church and Metropolitan Church of God. C.D will be remembered for his love for Jesus Christ, devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and perpetual kind spirit tinged with an ever present sense of humor. Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, Pelham, AL. Graveside service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations may be made to charities or ministries of choice.
