Clair S. Solt
Clair S. Solt Clair S. Solt, 87, of Lehighton passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at The Summit Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Mary (Heller) Solt who died in 2001. Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the later Walter and Sarah (Walck) Solt. Clair worked on the loading dock for Interstate Dress Carrier in Lehighton for many years until his retirement. He previously worked at the Barson and Bishop Mill in Lehighton. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lehighton where he served as an usher and greeter and volunteered in the Thrift Store and with the Trinity Trumpet. He was also a member of the Lehighton Golden Agers. Clair was an avid fisherman and especially loved to go on fishing trips to Canada. He was also a collector of stamps. He is survived by sons, Edward Solt, husband of Vercilla, and Joe Solt, husband of Karen; daughters, Virginia Crowther, Adele Craig, Elaine Shoenberger and Gloria, wife of Brian Strohl; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers Gary Solt, husband of Sara, and Richard Solt, husband of Faye; sisters Hilda, wife of James Fritzinger, Barbara, wife of Joe Chyko, and Sandra, wife of Earl Ziegenfuss; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Walter, Edward and Robert; and sisters Sarah, Fern, Betty and Marleen. Services: A Memorial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church on Third and Iron streets, Lehighton, with the Rev. Nancy Moore officiating. Committal service to follow at Franklin Heights Memorial Park. Calling is Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10-11 a.m., at the church.
