Christine BRASWELL
BRASWELL, Christine Talented and Beloved Police Officer killed in crash - Christine Braswell died on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from injuries suffered in a vehicle crash in Key West. She will be remembered for her bright smile, jovial personality, quick wit and immense capacity for love and friendship. Christine, 40, was born and raised in West Palm Beach. As a child, she excelled in dance, gymnastics, sports and shooting. After graduating from Palm Beach Lakes High in 1994, she earned a track scholarship to the University of Florida, where she competed in the high jump. She later followed in her father's career footsteps and, in 2005, became a Delray Beach Police Officer. She was masterful at her job and dedicated to her community. She was a skilled SWAT sniper, one of the only women to hold the job in South Florida, and a member of the department's honor guard. She shared her passion for law enforcement as a field training officer for new officers, as a police academy instructor at Broward College, women's self-defense instructor and as a mentor for police explorers for multiple agencies. For a woman who relished her solitary mission as a SWAT sniper, she thrived on a busy life filled with friends, laughter and work. She leaves behind a heartbroken law enforcement family, countless friends and many admiring Delray Beach residents with whom she interacted in her 12-year career. Survivors include her father, Daniel Braswell of Port Charlotte, her mother, Barbara Braswell of Lake Worth, and her brother, Daniel Braswell of Georgia. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, April 23, at Atlantic Community High School, 2455 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church West Palm Beach, 215 S. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33409, where Christine was a lifelong member.
