Christel Marschall East Lansing Christel Marschall, East Lansing, age 71, was born April, 1, 1945 at Bad Sankt Leonhard, Carinthia, Austria and passed away September 20, 2016 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after a prolonged illness. Survivors include husband Squire Jaros, son Adam Marschall Jaros and brother Jack (Carol) Marschall, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Christel attended the University of Cincinnati for her BS and MS degrees in Chemistry, and, as a Fulbright Scholar received a PhD in Zoology from the University of Goettingen. She conducted post-doctoral research in neural physiology at the Max Planck Institute in Germany and behavioral endocrinology at Michigan State University. She later became a full professor at Lansing Community College where she taught anatomy and human physiology. She enjoyed advising and working with her students, as well as other young people through Science Olympiad and the Supporters of Okemos Science. She was a member of the Society for Neuroscience and several other scholarly organizations, and served as a regional director for the Michigan Science Teachers Association. Her memorial service will be held October 22nd at 2pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church on 5509 South Pennsylvania Ave in Lansing, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in memory of Christel Marschall to the LCC Foundation, 309 N. Washington Square, Suite 201, Lansing, MI 48933 or at lcc.edu/marschall to support scholarships for LCC students.
