Chester M. Neal
Chester Melton Neal, 75, of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at his home. He lived his life on his terms, his way. Chester was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Chicago, a son of Benjamin and Ealey (Wilson) Neal. After high school, Chester served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After serving, he attended college in Chicago and later went on to graduate from the police academy. He was a boxer, race car driver and retired from the Chicago Police Department. Chester is survived by his wife, Cathy Morrow Neal of Constantine; children Darla Suggs of Riverdale, Ill., Raymoan Neal of Chicago, Lisa (Corey) Parlin of Schoolcraft and Tasha English of Chicago; grandchildren Shanice Neal of Springfield, Ill., Christina Suggs of Springfield, Ill., Avery Parlin, Carter Parlin, Antiana Mead, El Ron, Cathy and Wayne English; great-grandchildren Brianna, Johnathan and Coreyanna; and brothers Benjamin Neal, Irvin Penny and Carl Griggs Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John Blackman. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received noon-1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Memorial services with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor Deborah Penny will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
