Charlotte Ann Carpenter THORNVILLE: A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Charlotte Ann Carpenter, 85, of Thornville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Somerset, with Rev. Fr. Stephen Carmody as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Somerset. Charlotte died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, in Lancaster, following an extended illness. She was born August 10, 1931, in Roseville, the daughter of the late Franklin E. and Vera V. (Hansen) Wood. She was a graduate of Roseville H.S. and was an extraordinary mother and homemaker. Charlotte was an active member of the Thornville community: she quilted with the ladies at Grace Lutheran Church, was active in the Home Extension Club, baked many pies for the Holy Trinity Garden Party and was a member of the Thornville Fireman's Auxiliary. She loved gardening and flowers, baking cinnamon rolls, pies and especially spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving family: her husband, James H. Carpenter, whom she married June 18, 1949, children: Tim (Marcia) Carpenter, Cathie (Dean) DeRolph, Chris (Jim) Foura, Cynthia (Jeff) Ritter, Betsy (John) Founds, Nancy (Tony) Landis, Jimmy (Carmen) Carpenter, Steve (Renee) Carpenter; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Tener. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 S. Main Street in Thornville, where Vigil Services will be held at 4:45 p.m. The family prefers that memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
