Charlien "Charlie" Elliott (Penner) Bamfield, 79, of Farmington, joined our Heavenly Father Friday, April 14, 2017 at Crane's Roost Nursing Home in Aztec. She was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Newton, Kan. to Roland John Penner and Charlien Irene (Hazen) Penner. Charlie married her lifelong love, Wilbur Elliott Bamfield on Sept. 11, 1953. They were married almost 57 years until his death in 2010. They had three children, William E. Bamfield of Farmington, Mary E. (Bamfield) Bain (deceased) and JD Bamfield. They provided her with 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. After leaving Kansas in 1967 they lived in Colorado until work brought them to the Four Corners area in 1975, where they lived the remainder of their lives. A loving and caring woman, she was always ready and willing to help others. She loved her church and the children she helped in Boy Scouts and at her crosswalk where she worked for more than 10 years. She also loved to travel and visit her friends and family. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards or other games with others. Charlie was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; her daughter, Mary Bain; and her grandson, Benjamin. She is survived by her sons, William and JD; also by a brother, Cyril D. Penner; and five half-siblings, Michael R. Stultz, Michelle M. Kimball, Tammy K. Youngfield, Renee I. Clark and Ricky L. Stultz. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 W.
