Charles "Charlie" "Chuck" Massie left this world Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, to wait with his comrades in arms on the other shore. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, VFW 8911, 4937 Mansfield Hwy., Fort Worth, 76119. A procession will leave the VFW at 1:30 p.m. to arrive at DFW National Cemetery, Lane B, prior to the 2:15 p.m. graveside service. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite military charity or Patriot Paws Service Dogs, 254 Ranch Trail, Rockwall, Texas, 75032, would be appreciated. Chuck was born May 2, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., and worked his way to Texas and Vicky. Married almost 25 years, they liked the oceans and spent a lot of time in the Gulf and Atlantic states, the west coast was planned next. Fishing was his passion and his new goal was teaching his grandchildren the fine art of wetting a line. When not traveling he loved spending time with his boys and grandchildren. He was a faithful Rangers and Cowboys fan. To symbolize his patriotism he was an active life member of the VFW 8911, American Legion 635, Texas Vietnam Vets, DAV, 9th infantry. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Vern and Roxie, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors: He is survived by wife, Vicky; sister, Bonnie Townsend and husband, Bud, of Wilmington, N.C.; his brother, Jim Massie and wife, Barbara, of Bourbon, Mo.; sons, Jason and wife, Robin of Saginaw, Matthew and wife, Melissa, of Joshua; stepson, Gabe Temple of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Mia, Morgan and Ava Massie of Irving, Rhianna Briggs; grandson, Matthew Massie of Joshua; and several nieces and nephews.
