Charles William "Bill" Loven Bakersville - Charles William "Bill" Loven, age 73, of Hwy 261, Bakersville, NC, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Mitchell County, NC and the son of the late Edmund T. and Nora Masters Loven. He was a graduate of Bowman High in 1961 and Mars Hill College in 1965. He received a full scholarship to Mars Hill College and was awarded the school record for most points scored in a basketball game, and also held several other scoring records. After college he worked with E.F. Craven Company in Greensboro, NC and from 1969 until 2005 with French Broad Electric Company in Burnsville, NC where he was District Manager. Survivors include: his wife; Stacy Loven, of the home, one son; Jeff Loven (Kelly), of Marshall, NC, two stepchildren; Bricen and Hannah Anders, one sister; Nora Lee Bolton (Alfred L. Jr.), of Greensboro, NC, three grandchildren; Baylea, Rachael, and Michael Loven, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by: a son; Michael Edmund Loven, and a sister; Jeanette Elaine Street. Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 16 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Henline - Hughes Funeral Home with Todd Ayers officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Bakersville Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Mars Hill College Men's Basketball c/o Michael Loven Endowment Fund, 100 Athletic Street, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
