Charles E. Johnston
Charles E. Johnston, 93, a resident of Pasadena for over 40 years and formerly of North Linthicum died on April 14, 2017 at his residence. He was born on June 27, 1923 in Rhode Island to the late Charles Ernest and Jesse Johnston. Charles served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island in the late 1940's. Mr. Johnston worked in the quality control department at Calvert Distillery from the late 1940's until 1955 when he began teaching at Anne Arundel County Public Schools. He moved on to teach at Baltimore County Public schools in the mid 1960's where he taught music. Charles was a professional musician performing piano and vocals. He also enjoyed sailing on the Magothy River and Chesapeake Bay, bowling, crabbing, and renovating his homes. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son David M. Johnston and his sister Claire Sherman. Mr. Johnston is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret E. Johnston, his sons; Dana C. and wife Mary, Robert D. and wife Ann and Barry R. Johnston and wife Margaret, 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Friends may call on Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Park.
