Charles E. Howell Born: November 9, 1928 Died: February 13, 2017 Charles E. Howell, 88, of Woodstock, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock. He was born on November 9, 1928 in Woodstock to Jake and Hazel Howell. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Lena and William Gancar. He married Julia A. Carroll on September 12, 1953 at St. Patrick Church in Hartland. Mr. Howell was a veteran. He and his brother Cliff joined the Navy right after high school. He then went to work for the Telephone Company and retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer, and he bowled on many leagues. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a life member of the Woodstock Moose, and a life member of the Woodstock Knights of Columbus Council 776. He is survived by his wife, Julia; sons, Robert (Alice), Lawrence (Kris), Donald, Edward (Maryellen); daughters, Laura, Nancee (Roswell), and Denise; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt and uncle; twin brother, Clifton; and a brother, James. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Schneider Leucht Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Avenue, Woodstock. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock.
