Charles "Chuck" B. Fleming, Sr. April 27, 1932 - Jan. 8, 2017 Salinas Charles "Chuck" Buddy Fleming, Sr., 84, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, in Salinas. He was born April 27, 1932, in Michigan. Chuck had proudly served in the United States Army; the Green Berets. He then went to work in the building trades as a self-employed tile contractor in the community for more than 40 years. He was also a longtime member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Salinas. Chuck is survived by his wife of 44 years, Opal Fleming; daughters, Cindy and LeighAnn Fleming; sons, Charles Fleming, Jr., J.J. Jones and William Taylor, Jr.; sisters, Penny Aschwanden and Linda Limon; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Shelby, and his sister, Eva May. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, at the Healey Mortuary Chapel.
