Charles Reese Donaway, 91, one of life's kindest, well-liked men, peacefully crossed over The River October 14, 2016 in the care of Pathways Hospice. Charlie was born on May 28, 1925 to Estella Jane and Charles Burton Donaway, one of five boys and four girls. After graduating from high school Charlie joined the Marines and after basic training in LeJeune, SC, spent the rest of WWII in the South Pacific training military dogs. After the end of the war, he returned to Millsboro and married his high school sweetheart, Anna Lawson. For many years Charlie worked in Millsboro as a gas service man for Collins and Ryan. He ended his career working for the law firm of Tunnell and Raysor as a paralegal doing real estate closings. After Anna passed away just short of their 50th wedding anniversary, Charlie met and married Morrilyn Shaw of Colorado, and at the age of 71 Charlie left the town where he was born, raised, married, worshiped, worked and played, twenty miles from the ocean and Eastern Seashore and moved to the hinterlands of Loveland, CO. He has spent the last 20 years rebuilding his life with a new wife, kids, grandkids, and lots of friends and neighbors. Charlies made even more friends through years of league bowling, playing golf and his once-a-month Poker group. All of us will miss him and his never-ending cache of stories. Charlies is survived by his wife, Morrilyn; two step-children, Amy Wood of Loveland and David Wood of Littleton, CO; two step-grandsons, Cade, 17 and Drake, 9 of Loveland; one sister Dorothy Mitchell of Delaware/South Caroline; numerous nieces and nephews; plus too many friends to tell...and one lonely little rescue dog, Mylow. Memorial Services will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10:00am at the Allnutt Funeral Chapel in Loveland, CO. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Pathways Hospice or the Larimer Humane Society. Please view the online obituary, send condolences and sign the family guest book at www.allnutt.com.
