LOFTIN, Cecil Wayne "Sonny" Cecil Wayne Loftin (known as Sonny) passed away on January 7, 2017. He was born on August 1, 1934 in Cameron, TX. Sonny was 82. He was a graduate of Manor High School but a truly self-educated successful man. In the 50s, Sonny served in the Texas Army National Guard. In the 60s and 70s, he did construction, helping to build many subdivisions in Austin with NPC. He loved competition; starting with being a jockey as a young boy, then on to cart racing, and then drag racing. He could be seen at many drag strips around Texas. He later got involved in motocross with his three boys. He wanted to win and expected nothing less of his sons. Never one afraid of hard work, he did what was needed to provide for his family. In the 90s, he started Loftin Trucking in Austin. He worked from early morning to late in the evening to make it a success. After selling his trucking business, he focused on his Circle S Ranch where he raised cutting and barrel racing horses. He won many buckles and awards as a rider and owner. His favorite and prized horse Poison Sumac, held a special place in his heart. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Ray Loftin and Mildred Arabella Aldridge Loftin. He is survived by; two sisters, Gloria Hicks and Barbara Lindsey; three children, Chuck and his wife Angie, Chris and his wife Kim, and Casey and his wife Dorothy; seven grandchildren, Travis, Skylar, Mackenzi, Jaxson, Jordon, Jared, and Cassidy; one great-grandchild, Kendra and many nieces and nephews. Sonny was loved by many. He was not like anyone else. He will not be forgotten. A visitation for Sonny will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home located at 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home memorial chapel.
