Cecil Ray Jones Mr. Cecil Ray Jones, 65, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Apostles Bobby and Elaine Holloway officiating. Mr. Jones, a native and lifelong resident of Pitt County, graduated from C.M. Eppes High School in 1969. Following graduation, he joined the US Army and later returned to Greenville. He worked as a Recycling Coordinator and Supervisor for the City of Greenville Public Works Department, retiring in 2007 after 28 years of service. In 1996, Mr. Jones received the Herman Drake award for his service to Pitt County. He also owned and operated a landscaping business, J and J Enterprises. Mr. Jones was a founder of Oak Grove Christian Church and received a Master's in Divinity from Bible Faith College. He later founded River Life Ministry at Allen Chapel, where he currently served as the Apostle. Mr. Jones, an avid outdoorsman, loved fishing and animals, especially horses. He also loved motorcycles and was a member of the Purpose Riders Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Velma Jones, 2 children, and 8 grandchildren.
