In memory of
1946 ~ 2016 Cathy J. Barney, 70, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed away peacefully at her South Jordan home surrounded by her loving family on October 16, 2016. Cathy was born 17 minutes after her twin sister Shirleen to Marcel P and Viola B Jaquier April 21, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from East High in 1964 and attended the University of Utah. She found the love of her life Terry L. Barney and was married on April 16, 1986. They were sealed for time and all eternity one year later in the Jordan River Temple. Cathy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings involving music in the church, including her favorite, teaching the children beautiful primary songs. Her greatest love and joy was her family, demonstrated by her unfailing attendance at her children's and grandchildren's sporting and other events and the countless hours she spent making them handcrafted gifts. Cathy is survived by her husband, Terry; sisters, Elaine (Ron) Prows, Shirleen (Wayne) Carter; sister-in-law, Nadeane Sandberg; children, Michael (Danya), Lane (Susan) and Cory (Lisa) Topham, April (Dean) Garnett, Melanie (Josh) Lever; step-children, Robin (Wayne) Faulkner, Jennifer (Ben) Payne, Michael (Jodi) and Steven (Nicci) Barney, Amy (Tim) Nixon, Karen (Ben) Hampton; as well as 42 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, George; sister, Lois and her husband Ray Lutz; and daughter, Heidi Topham. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the River Ridge 9th Ward Chapel, 1409 W. 9800 S., South Jordan. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 W. South Jordan Pkwy, South Jordan, and 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services.
