Jordache Cruz (Isabelisse), Vanessa Gonzalez (Edwin), Diana Ostrom, Adam Toro and Israel Cruz; as well as 19 great-grandchildren; who knew her as 'GiGi'. Cathy was a seamstress for over 40 years, and was known for designing and making her own clothing. She could also be found at her sewing machine making a dress, or a shirt for her grandchildren, which always bore the clothing tag 'Especially Made by Grandma'. Cathy was passionate about life and a strong determined advocate for those who could not speak up for themselves. She was active in her communities in New York and Connecticut, where she co-founded The Handicapped Children of Puerto Rico, Ninos Lisiados, with chapters in Bridgeport and Hartford, Connecticut, as well as Puerto Rico. She worked tirelessly with community leaders in non-profit foundations, and volunteered her time and services at various community and religious activities. She was very active in her church in Orange Park, Florida, Saint Catherine's Catholic Church, where she loved being a Eucharistic Minister and helping to serve others. Cathy loved travelling, and with her children, visited many states and countries in Europe. She enjoyed sports, whether it was cheering for her children or grandchildren, or for the New York Mets; her favorite baseball team. She loved dancing, and anyone who had the pleasure of having danced with her, always said she was as light as a "feather." Cathy lived a full meaningful life and will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her. Memorial Celebration of Her Life will be held at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida 32073 on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
