CASSANDRA CECILE SMITH Musician, Teacher, and Mother Passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Cassandra studied music at Catholic University in Washington, DC specializing in the clarinet. She went on to become an educator within Montgomery and Prince George's Counties teaching elementary-aged special needs children for many years. But her passion was raising her children. She coached their soccer teams and instructed their karate classes. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Washington Redskins, watching English Premier Soccer, and going to baseball games with friends and family. Cassandra was preceded by her husband, Cameron Vassighi. She is survived by her children, Kevin, Jackson and Caroline; her grandson, Luke; as well as her mother, Jean and siblings, Stroube, Melissa, Elizabeth and Russell. She was also loved by many nephews and nieces. Services will be held on Sunday, October 16 at 1:30 p.m. at the Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 13925 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904.
