HAMPTON - Carson Hugh Bell, 95, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017. He was born in Copper Hill, Virginia and was a resident of Hampton for 66 years. A veteran of the US Army, Carson was in the 91st Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 29th division. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the WWII Victory medal. Carson was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. Carson was preceded in rest by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Ann Bell. He is survived by 2 sisters, Kathleen Plyler and Sylvia Moore, a brother, Eldridge Stephen Bell, Jr. He also leaves behind two daughters, Julie Ann DeCuypere and Linda Susan Bell, both of Hampton; 2 grandchildren, Michael George DeCuypere, PHD, MD, and Rebecca Ann Ready; 4 great-grandchildren, Megan, Hunter, Kaitlyn and Warren. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Friends are encouraged to visit to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
