ALBANY - Carrie Lucille Dixon, age 88 of Albany, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, 2017 at Kimes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Athens. Born Dec. 27, 1928 in Vinton County, she was the daughter of the late Earl & Dottie Cline Hill. She was formerly employed at the Speed Queen Laundromat, Laughlin's Vending Co. and Kimes Nursing Home. She was a member of Columbia Chapel Church of Albany and was an avid Ohio State sports fan. Carrie is survived by a daughter, Darlene (Gary) Dillinger of Athens; a daughter in law, Connie Dixon of Athens; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Dixon; two sons, Tom Dixon and Gilbert Dixon; three sisters, Dorothy Stout, Mona Kuhn and Lona Gemmell; five brothers, George, Chester, Earl, Louis and Dewey Hill; and her special pet companion, Lassie. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, noon, at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Pastor Don Quesinberry officiating. Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Kimes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Interim Healthcare Visiting Nurses for the loving care she received.
