HANKEL, Caroline (Age 92) Caroline Hankel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on August 31, 2017. She was born on April 24, 1925 to Charles and Caroline North in London, England. During World War II her father sent her to stay with her aunt who lived in the countryside. This was to keep her safe from the continuous bombing in London. While there she met her future husband, William "Bill" Hankel, who was in the Army Air Corp and stationed nearby. Caroline and Bill were married on November 2, 1946. After the war her husband's military career took them to various posts around the world. Eventually they were stationed at Fairchild AFB and upon Bill's retirement they decided to make their permanent home in Cheney, Washington. They still enjoyed traveling, but now it was for pleasure. They took many trips to England to enjoy time with her sisters and brother and their families. She was a full time homemaker and made her husband and children the center of her life and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, four sons and two daughters, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one sister. Private services will be held by her family at a later date.
