Carol Ann (Davis) Stone
Carol Ann (Davis) Stone, 74 PORTER - Carol Ann (Davis) Stone, 74, of Porter (Kezar Falls), passed away Oct. 12, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hos-pice House in Scarborough, surrounded by the love of family and friends, after a courageous battle with renal cancer. She was born in Portland, Feb. 5, 1942, the daughter of Gordon and Dorothy Leavitt Davis. She attended local schools and graduated from Porter High School in 1960. She met the love of her life, Walter Stone, in 1958 and they were married Aug. 25, 1962. Carol and Walter settled in Kezar Falls and raised their family surrounded by the love of their parents and the gifts of a small town community. While raising her family, Carol worked at Vulcan Electric, GTE Sylvania in Kezar Falls, and volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a loving caregiver to not only her family but many others in the community. She enjoyed gardening, going out to eat, Duke basketball, Friday night Bingo at the Legion Hall, finding treasures at yard sales, and surrounding herself with family and friends. Carol was an avid collector of many beautiful things and had a collection for every season. She always loved spending time at the ocean and gathering around tables with her beloved family and friends. She was a member of the Good Time Gals Red Hat Society, Keswick Club, and the Kezar Falls Fire Department Auxiliary. Most importantly Carol was a devoted wife, mom, and Grammy. She could always be found cheering on her children and granddaughters at academic events, musicals, plays, sporting events, band and chorus concerts, dance recitals and more. Her loving presence will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Walter Stone of Porter; her daughter, Laurie Stone Richmond and husband Bob of Hiram; sons, David Stone of Carrabassett Valley, Michael Stone and Carol Byrne of Lebanon, N.H., and Everton Arruda Costa of Rio de Janerio, Brazil; brothers, Gary Davis and wife Mary of Falmouth, Peter Davis and wife Rhonda of Porter/Gorham, and Scott Davis and Randi of Arizona; brother-in-law Tim Stone and wife Laurel of Cornish; grandchildren Maya Richmond of Paris, France, and Claire Richmond of Hiram; and nieces, nephews, and a larger, loving extended family. Visiting hours will be Sunday, Oct. 16, from 2:30-4 p.m., immediately followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Watson, Neal, & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. Burial will be Monday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at the Kezar Falls Burial Grounds in Porter.
