CARL WEBB Jr.
Carl Springer Webb Jr. Alloway Township, N.J. Carl Springer Webb Jr., 78, of Alloway Twp., NJ. Passed away on October 18, 2016. Born in Camden, NJ, and raised in Pedricktown, NJ, he lived with his family in Daretown, NJ, for 35 years and moved to Alloway Twp. upon retirement. Carl was the son of Carl Springer, Sr. and Gertrude B. Moorhouse Webb. He retired from the Del Monte Corp as a warehouse supervisor after 47 years of service. As a sergeant he retired from the Army National Guard after 29 years of service. Carl was always studying nature. He was involved in the Girl Scout troops of his daughters and led their nature programs. He also took his daughters for countless walks at sunrise to observe wildlife and continued this practice with his grandchildren. He was the consummate teacher. Carl was a frustrated farmer, planting flowers and vegetables. He was interested in everything. He did crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and read books on every subject. He matched his mind with the contestants on Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. An ardent fan of the Phillies, he was also an Eagles fan and watched every game possible. He and his wife enjoyed travel and often took one or two grandchildren along. A graduate of Penns Grove Regional High School, Carl attended college at Rutgers of Camden as a youth and returned to college after marriage to obtain a BS in Business, Summa Cum Laude, with a major in Accounting from Widener University. Family was the most important thing in Carl's life. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lucille Hopkins Webb. His three daughters: Amanda Webb-Davidson (husband William Davidson), Dr. Heather Webb (husband Scott White), and Gretchen Rice (husband Edward Rice III). He is survived by 9 grandchildren: Kristi Rice Plyant, Sean Johnston, Bryan Davidson, Aaron Webb, Mariah and Brennan Rice, Brady Davidson and Aidan and Liam Patrick White. Two great-grandchildren, Robert and Timothy Cartwright also survive him. His pet cat Spider misses him.
