In memory of
Carl Blaine Horton
1964 ~ 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Carl Blaine Horton, who passed away on December 31, 2016 in Weston, Connecticut following a courageous and tough battle with brain cancer. He lost the battle to this terrible disease, yet his fighting spirit lives on. Carl was born in Pullman, Washington on May 3, 1964 to Ralph and Mildred Horton. He was the second of five sons and one daughter. Carl grew up in Pullman, Washington and later Idaho Falls, Idaho. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. After graduation Carl attended Brigham Young University for a year prior to serving an LDS mission in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. He received a Chemical Engineering degree with honors from the University of Utah and later a Juris Doctorate degree cum laude from George Washington University. Carl married the love of his life, Jessica A. Taylor, in the Washington DC Temple on September 13, 1986. He and Jessica have four children, C. Blaine, Trevor, Brock and Dasha. His family meant everything to him. Carl worked for a law firm in Virginia after graduation then in 1992 was hired by the General Electric Company and ultimately became a Vice President and Chief IP Counsel for GE where he maintained employment until his passing. In 2014 he received the GE President's Distinguished Service Award. To say he was brilliant, dynamic and genuine is an understatement. Whatever he put his mind to he accomplished, including numerous triathlons, church callings, and career opportunities. He is survived by his wife, children, parents, siblings, Brian (Heather), Ken (Wendy), Rod (Margaret), Gary (Kristi) and Cindi, mother- in-law, Barbara, sister-in-law Desiree(Gary) Barlow and brother-in-law, Mike (Lisa)Taylor as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; preceded in death by father-in-law, Mike Taylor and nephew, Tyler Horton. He was so loved and will be sorely missed. Carl donated his brain to science to further the understanding of the cancer that took his life, once again showing his giving spirit and hope for a cure one day. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 6pm at the Murray North Stake building 5200 Glendon Street (700 West 5200 South.) In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider donating to St. Vincent's Brain Tumor Center in care of Dr. Blondin, 75 Old Kings Hwy, Floor 5, Fairfield, CT 06824 or to brain cancer research at www.gofundme.com under Jessica Horton.
