C. Arthur Mower
C. Arthur Mower, age 91, died peacefully in Sacramento, on Dec 30, 2016. A Sacramento native, Art excelled in sports early in childhood as a nine year old city croquet champion and later as a member of the varsity basketball team at Sacramento High School, where he held the scoring record for many years in the Sacramento vs. McClatchy rivalry. At the University of California he was a member of both the championship basketball and rugby teams. While at Cal, Art was a business administration major and was initiated into Sigma Phi and the Order of the Golden Bear. Upon graduation he was in the building materials business before joining the main Sacramento office of Dean Witter/Morgan Stanley as a stockbroker until his 2003 retirement. He was a long-time supporter of Cal Rugby. Art was predeceased by his daughter Claire, his son Garth, his parents Lila & Charles, and his brothers Richard Mower and Jack Mower. Art is survived by Ann, his wife of 66 years, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is planned for Feb. 2017.
