Bruce M. Holey
CLAYTON - Bruce M. Holey, age 64, of Clayton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. He was born 1952 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Richard and Ellen Holey, and graduated from Bedford High School with the Class of 1970. He grew up going with the family to their cottage on Wamplers Lake where he cultivated a love of boating, water skiing, and fishing that carried on throughout his life. On Sept. 30, 1989, he married Jane Dirske in Holland, Mich., and they have been blessed with 27 years together. It is a rare and extraordinary thing to find two people so in love with each other, and such love was evident in the way they cared for each other on their many biking and camping trips. Bruce was a master electrician for General Motors, where he retired in 2008. As an engineer, he was also gifted at fixing almost anything mechanical and had an energy that never let him sit in one place for long, but pushed him to keep striving and inventing. After retiring, he went to work for Uckele Health and Nutrition, where he was a valued member of their staff. Bruce was a faithful member of Ogden Church, where he loved to serve, worship, and fellowship with a congregation who loved him back and appreciated his many contributions. He was also a devoted follower of Christ and knew that he would spend eternity in the loving arms of his heavenly Father. In addition to his wife, Jane, he is survived by his children, Dakota Holey of Hillsdale and Matthew Holey of Clayton; and from his first marriage with Jennifer Jankow, their children, Sarah (Aaron) Holey-Schwartz of Athens, Ohio, Gordon (Jennifer) Holey of Williamstown, Mass., and Peter Holey of Champagne, Ill.; grandson, Max Holey; and siblings, Brenda Sumey of Oxford, Mich., Susie (Dick) Okopny of Grosse Ile, Mich., and Brett (Susan) Holey of Greenwich, Conn. All those surviving him feel blessed to have been a part of his life and miss the brightness and joy of his presence. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Holey. A memorial Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Ogden Church with the Rev. John Maguire officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. Contributions in memory of Bruce are suggested to Damascus Road.
