Bruce A. Burton
Bruce A. Burton 1948 - 2017 SO. GLENS FALLS - Bruce A. Burton, 68, passed away at home, Sunday February 12, 2017, with his loving family at his side, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Utica, NY, December 2, 1948, son of Mrs. Lavonne Klossner Burton, of Utica, and the late Lyle Burton; he attended Whitesboro High School. Bruce resided in Lockport, NY, from 1967-80, where he moved to pursue a dream to become a professional horse trainer. He achieved that goal, training and showing horses in world level competitions. He later went on to start a trucking company. From 1995-2017, Bruce co-owned Values Homes, in So. Glens Falls, NY. He ran the transporting, setting and service department. Bruce was an extraordinary and unusual man, kind and hard working. He loved his family more than anything. He gave a helping hand to anyone who needed one. He was respected in the community and by all who knew him. He was a true gentleman and to his family, he is the last of a dying breed. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Sherrie Bergeron Burton; daughter, Julia Burton; son, Daniel Lembo, all of So. Glens Falls; brother, Albert (Jennifer) Burton, of Graylake, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by son, Jeremy Lembo; sister, Bonnie Burton; and brothers, Wayne and Lyle Gerald Burton. Bruce's family would like to thank the staff of the Charlie Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls hospital. You are amazingly compassionate. We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Hospice of Saratoga County for the moral and physical support, to have allowed Bruce to pass away at home. A very, very special thanks to our nurse friends, Mary Cook and Jeanne Sherman, who came, spent the night and day, who were there with us to assure Bruce passed so peacefully. We could not have done this without you. Words can not express our appreciation. Services are set for this Sunday at St. Michael's Church, Saratoga Ave., So. Glens Falls, with a calling hour from 2-3 PM, words of remembrance and shared stories at 3 PM, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 3:30 PM. Following Mass, a celebration of Bruce's life will continue at Cirelli's Osteria, in So. Glens Falls, from 4:30 to 8 PM. Please, in lieu of flowers, remembrances and donations of supplies to the Friends of Phoebie Animal Rescue, 21 Blind Rock Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804, phone 518-744-4872. This is a no kill shelter. They have many days trying to figure out where and how to get food and supplies to care for the animals' needs, some days it is bringing extremely ill animals to the vets, in hopes they can be saved. This was very dear to Bruce's heart; he had a true love for all animals. We would truly appreciate a donation toward saving a life of an animal much more than flowers.
