Brian L. Wall 1949 - 2016 BARNEVELD - Brian L. Wall, 67, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2016, after a short illness. He was born in Utica on June 16, 1949, a son of the late Leon C. and Evelyn F. Gilliland Wall. Brian was a graduate of Holland Patent High School class of 1967. Mr. Wall owned and operated Van's Tavern in Barneveld for forty-three years. Brian was a standout and well-known pitcher in the Northern Fast Pitch Softball League. He also sponsored many teams over the years. Brian was a well-known high school boys' basketball coach at Remsen, Holland Patent and Poland Central schools. He was always there for his players in whatever their needs were. He was a very sociable tavern owner, always greeting patrons and eager to talk sports. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include the love of his life for twenty-six years, Candice Cahill, and her two sons, Russell (Genevieve) Cahill and their three children, Hannah, Abby and Erin, and Michael Cahill and his two children, Michael and Morgan; two sisters, Belva Shaler and her family, Leian DiNitto and her children, Trey and Taylor, Robin (Jeff) Millick and their children, MacKenzie and Riley, and Leslie (Tami) Shaler, their children, Randy, Courtney and Trevor. Brian also leaves his sister, Terralyn Williams and her family, Kimberly (Mike) Sobel and their children, Ryan and Jeffery, Bonnie (Mackey) McLaughlin and their children, Alex and Terralyn; also several other relatives and many dear friends, including a close cousin, Jeff (Rayna) Wall. He was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Ron Shaler and Tom Williams. His funeral will be held Thursday, October 20, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. from Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 7944 Steuben St., Holland Patent, with burial in Olden Barneveld Cemetery.
