BONNIE EILEEN SHERER, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at home. Born July, 29, 1926, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Harley and Clara (Porter) Bishop. She was married to Robert A. Sherer on July 31, 1977, in Fort Wayne. Bonnie worked as the secretary of the union with Magavox for 28 years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and Brazilian embroidery. Many of her works were displayed at the Allen County Public Library. Surviving are her daughter, Rene (Rick) Filkens of Fort Wayne; grandchilden, Luanna (John) Cunningham of Auburn, Ind., Laurie Johnston of Fort Wayne, Heather (Kerry) Foster of Albion, Ind., Matthew (Bekah) Brooks of Bluffton, Hollie (Rob) Sutton of Fort Wayne, and Nicolas Filkens; stepsons, Larry (Deb) Sherer of Fort Wayne, Tom (Sue) Sherer of Kendallville, Ind., Roger Sherer of Bluffton, Ind., and Robert Sherer of Los Angeles, Calif.; step-grandchildren, Laura Tallent of Fort Wayne, Lisa Laur of Avilla, Ind., Jennifer (Tracy) Long of Zionsville, Ind., Patricia (Luke) Scheidler of Zionsville, Ind., Megan (Jay) Richards of Ruskin, Fla., and Nicholas Allen of Austin, Texas; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Clara Bishop; husband, Robert Sherer; daughter, Penne Brooks; son, Lanny Fry; grandson, David Fry; and stepdaughter, Janet Allen. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Sweet Church, 3015 East 415 North, Albion, Ind., with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Tim Grable officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017, at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Burial in Sweet Cemetery, Albion, Ind.
