BONNIE I. ANDERSON
Bonnie Isaacs Anderson, 99, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on October 14, 2016. Bonnie was born June 25, 1917, in Rose Bud, AR, to Burnie and Maud Isaacs. The oldest of six, she assisted her parents in raising her siblings while working on the family farm. She was married to Hugh Anderson in 1946 following his return from World War II, and the couple moved to Kansas City shortly thereafter. They were married for 34 years, until his death in 1980. Bonnie was a devoted full-time mother and dedicated her life to raising her five children. She then worked as the office manager and bookkeeper for the Kansas City Typographical Union, Local No. 80, for 26 years until her retirement at age 76. Bonnie was an animal lover who greatly enjoyed the company of her dogs: Sandy, Lucy, and Phoebe. She loved gardening and working crossword puzzles, and was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church. She also took great pride in gathering her family for big meals featuring her famous apple pie. Bonnie especially loved each addition to her large family as grandchildren and great grandchildren came along. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; her son, James (Elke) Anderson of Encinitas, CA; her brother, Andrew Isaacs of Conway, AR; and sister, Lillie Ruth Hill of Beebe, AR. She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Tom) Coleman of Alexandria, VA, Carol (Barry) Tower of Kansas City, MO, John (Renee) Anderson of San Diego, CA, and Patty (Benji) Brue of Jackson, MI; her sisters, Tina Marquart of Kansas City, and Dorothy Burd of Paris, AR; her brother, John Isaacs of Magazine, AR; as well as 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 N. 291 Hwy., Liberty, MO, followed by a service at 11 a.m.. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the memory care staff of The Gardens at Barry Road for the exceptional care and kindness exhibited toward Bonnie over the past four years. In appreciation of these wonderful caregivers, memorial donations in Bonnie's honor may be given to The Gardens at Barry Road, 8300 NW Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64153 to be used for the benefit of the memory care staff there.
