In memory of
Mr. Bobby Lightell of Mantee, MS died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Mr. Bobby was born August 25, 1927, in Patterson, Louisiana to Charles and Cora Lightell. His family moved to Memphis, TN in 1935, where he lived and worked until moving to Mantee in 1973. He served during WWII with the Army Air Corp and during the Korean War with the Tennessee Air National Guard. He was a proud Veteran and supporter of Veterans groups. Mr. Bobby was also a Master Mason, holding membership in Montpelier Lodge. He worked many years in the railroad yard at Babcock & Wilcox in West Point, MS. Mr. Bobby was a founding member of the Mantee Volunteer Fire Department, serving as its first Chief and holding that position until 1997. He was also served as City Clerk, Court Clerk and Administrator of the Mantee Water Department. For many years, many inquiries into Mantee business were met with the response of "Ask Mr. Bobby." During his years of service, he met and formed many friendships in the public service sector. Mr. Bobby was preceded in death by Nona, his wife of 53 years, his parents, three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter Donna Lightell of Mantee, MS, a host of nieces and nephews, friends, neighbors and a loving community. Pallbearers will be Barry Dendy, Doug Wilson, Ralph Brand, Jimmy Stevens, Calvin Redwine and Marc Redwine. In lieu for flowers, the family asks you to think of Mr. Bobby when you make a donation to your local firefighters, favorite military or veterans support organizations, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Arrangements: Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service at 11:00 a.m. With Bro. William Carpenter officiating.
