Bobby Shafter Futch Sr.
Bobby Shafter Futch Sr., 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2017, in Tampa, Florida. Bobby was born and raised in Nevils, Georgia. He made a career with the National Gypsum Company, working in various positions of increasing importance, before retiring after 43 years of service as warehouse superintendent of their Tampa operations. Bobby's greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's many sporting events and programs. He was an avid fan of all of Tampa's professional sports franchises and attended many of the biggest wins in the teams' histories. Bobby was predeceased in death by his parents, William Shafter and Mattie Lena Futch; sisters, Winona Beasley, Helen Schiflett and Betty Blalock. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jeanette Mallard Futch; sons, Bobby Jr. and wife, Teresa; Greg, and Bill and wife, Brigid; brother, Jerry; sister-in-law, Mary Orr; grandchildren, Joshua Daniel Futch, Kayla O'Hara and husband, John; and William Stoddard Futch; and many extended family and friends. A celebration of Bobby's life was held on January 7, 2017, at the Stonewall Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida.
