Blynn Harry Humphreys Feburary 3, 1927 - January 15, 2017 Eugene, Oregon - "Yay Brethren!" you might hear him say or quoting lines from Longfellow's Village Blacksmith poem. He always shared a spirit of fun and laughter. Blynn Harry Humphreys passed away peacefully in Eugene, Oregon, Jan. 15th, 2017 with family and friends at his side. He was born Feb. 3rd, 1927 to Eva Steward Humphreys and Harry Humphreys in Stayton, Oregon at the restored Brown House. He is survived by his children, Lynn, Scott (Debbie), Pennie and Tadd (Christy), sisters Lavon Gabrielson of Lebanon and Anita Cole of Spokane, grandsons, Marc, Tadd, Chad, Brandon, Brent, Casey and Kyle Humphreys and Frank and Eric DyeMartin. He also has many surviving nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and -nephews. (He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Leland and older brother Wallace Humphreys in 2009). His father's family homesteaded in the Waldo Hills and mother's family moved with logging crews out west from Minnesota. As a young boy growing up in Stayton, he was often seen riding his horse around town. He rarely missed a dance and also sang and played drums. He served in the army during 1944-45. He married Nelda Marie Harold in 1949 (div. 1987). He loved to camp, hunt and fish. Weekends with the family were often spent at the Oregon coast or in the mountains. Blynn was a member of the Stayton Church of Christ, Jaycees, and Masonic Lodge. He worked for many years at the family business, Korinek Remedy, and eventually opened his own seed business with his son Tadd. He retired at 65 and moved to Camarillo, CA where he resided until 2010. He returned to Stayton to be near family and in 2013 moved to Eugene. He loved life, made friends wherever he went and was known for his generosity, and keen sense of humor. He will be greatly missed but with endless love and many fond memories we bid him farewell. We are all broken, all complicated, but through Christ Jesus we are restored and will see him again, where there will be no pain, no tears, no bitterness, only forgiveness and eternal love. A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming summer at Stayton Church of Christ- date TBD. We want to thank Green Valley Assisted Living in Eugene for the amazing love and care they gave so generously to our father and family.
