In memory of
B.F. Paty DAVES
DAVES, B.F. Paty B.F. Paty Daves was born January 30, 1963 in West Palm Beach, FL to Joel Thomas Daves III and Katherine Paty Daves. He graduated from St. Andrews School in Boca Raton, FL and matriculated at the University of the South, Sewanee, TN in the fall of 1981. At Sewanee he was a Phi Delta Theta and an English major, graduating in 1985. Subsequently he entered the insurance brokerage business, beginning as a sales associate at Roebuck-Roberts Brothers Insurance Co., in Mobile, Al. In Mobile he met and married his wife of twenty-three years, Mary Dedeker "Dede" Chunn. Paty and Dede were blessed with two children, Vanessa Dantzler Daves and B. F. Paty Daves, Jr. Roebuck-Roberts Bros. was acquired by Willis in 1999 and in 2004 Paty accepted an offer to manage the Willis office in Savannah, GA. In Savannah Paty and Dede became involved in a number of church related and civic organizations, making many new friends in the process. In 2008 Paty was asked to move to Kansas City to take over the Willis office there, which included offices in Lawrence and Topeka. As in Savannah, Paty and Dede quickly became involved in their community and made new friends, many of which have been great supporters during his illness. In 2014 the family moved once again, this time to Chicago where Paty managed the greater Chicago insurance brokerage business for Willis, now Willis Towers Watson. Paty was a man who loved life, his family and his friends. Having grown up in South Florida he was a big Miami Dolphins fan, following his team faithfully through thick and thin, often in places where the Dolphins fans were few and far between. He was a self-taught guitar player and singer. He had a robust, but dry, sense of humor and was a great mimic. He was a member of both the Society of Colonial Wars and the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Georgia.
