Scherphorn, Beverly Beverly Ann ("Pudgy") Scherphorn of Hudsonville, passed away with dignity and grace on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the age of 81, after a brief battle with cancer. Beverly retired from Wyoming Public Schools as a para-professional and librarian at West Elementary. In her youth, she won several State championships in roller skating. She also enjoyed having large pool parties every summer. After Beverly's retirement, she followed her grandchildren, nieces and nephews to their various activities. She loved entertaining friends and family at her Florida condo as well. Beverly was preceded by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Scherphorn, brother-in-law, Bill Dyer, and sister, Shirley Laperna. Beverly leaves behind her loving family including son, Mark (Sue) Scherphorn; five grandchildren, Kristen (Rob) Brown, Heather Lynn (Scott) Nyholt, Justin Scherphorn, Megann (Chris) Blik, and Taylor Kinney; three great-granddaughters, Addi and Nora Blik, and Iva Beverly Nyholt; her sister and best friend, Betty Dyer; step-brother, Ron Fate; sister and brother-in-law, Chuck (Karen) Lass; several nieces and nephews; and her dearest friend, Joyce Fick. A celebration of Beverly's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St., SW, in Grandville, with visitation prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Waterford Place for the wonderful care given to Beverly especially Blake, Smilie, Amanda, Melinda, Chelsea and many others that made Beverly's short stay a blessing.
