MALIN, BEVERLY J. 87, passed away surrounded by family Sunday October 16, 2016. She is the wife of Hebert Malin; they were married for 66 years. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and Williamsport, PA and after her marriage lived in Evanston, IL, Midland MI, and then Barrington, RI from 1957 until 2010. She and her husband have been living in Tiverton RI for the past 6 years. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Judith, (Michael Marr) David, and Robert (Denise) Malin; sister Susan Baron Garrett; grandchildren Daniel( Katherine Ortega), Bella, and Piper Malin; great-grandchildren Salvador Espinal and Ximena Malin; and nieces and a nephew and their children. Beverly's life was rich with creative endeavors. She graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology and later returned to URI for a B.A. and teaching certificate. Her pursuits and work included children's fashion design, family seamstress, painting and drawing, graphic design, teaching, writing poetry, mosaics, upholstery, furniture restoration, extraordinary cook, teaching, acting in various community theater venues, dancing, dedicated shopper, family travel agent before computers, researcher, and later in life perfected a whistling accompaniment to any music along with conducting from her seat across all venues: from the backseat of the car to Symphony Hall. She was active in many community organizations including the Barrington Players, as a founding member of the Barrington Jewish Center, the BJC Sisterhood, later Temple Habonim, PTO, and Consumer Advocates under the RI Attorney General's Office. She wrote many freelance articles published over the years in the Providence Journal. She traveled extensively in Europe and the US with her husband. She was her husband's reluctant crew on their sailboat for many years. She and her husband enjoyed classical music concerts, art museums and theater together. She is so missed. Funeral services will be held Thursday October 20th at 1PM at Temple Habonim, 165 New Meadow Rd, Barrington, RI, with interment following immediately at the Barrington Town Cemetery on Nayatt Road. Following interment, there will be a Shiva gathering/light lunch at Temple Habonim; all are welcome. An afternoon minyan will start at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Center at the BU School of Medicine, where Beverly had been a participant in the Hope Study since 2003.
