May 3, 1918 - February 3, 2017 This pioneering figure in the musical life of Orange County has passed away. Best known as founding Artistic Director of the Fullerton Friends of Music, which provided free, member-funded classical music concerts since 1959, she was also esteemed as an insightful interpreter of the classical and early music repertoires. Raised and educated in New York City, she studied piano with Hedwig Kanner Rosenthal and musicology with Curt Sachs. Relocating to the Southland in 1943, she married the scientist Allen Strickler, with whom she remained until his death in 2013. Beulah left an incalculable impact on her family, her colleagues, and her community with her passion, creativity, and generous and adventurous spirit. She is survived by sons Daniel, Robert, and Michael, and granddaughter Emma. A memorial concert will be given by the Fullerton Friends of Music at 3:30pm, Sunday, February 19, at Sunny Hills High School in Fullerton. Funeral services on Monday, February 20, at 10 A.M. at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar.
