Bettye L. Udell
A memorial service will be held at Crestwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at 1 p.m. for Mrs. Bettye L. Udell, who passed away at her home in Southside on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the age of 88. Memories will be shared at 2 p.m. Mrs. Udell was a native of Etowah County, a graduate of Gadsden High School and a member of 12th Street Baptist Church. She along with her husband, Don, moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, in 1986, traveled, enjoyed life and resided there for many years, returning to Southside in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Hanks; sister, Maxine Rowan; husband, Donald W. Udell; beloved son, Johnny Randall Smith. She is survived by her beloved son, Terry Glenn Smith; granddaughter, Meashell Clements; great-grandson, Hayden Clements; great-granddaughter, Hayley Lancaster. She was a gracious lady and always put others' needs ahead of her own. She left this earth a better place because of her presence here. Now she can enjoy the rewards that she so much deserves. She will truly be missed by her loved ones, who will cherish her memories forever. Pray joy and grief merge in a healing blend, and on the loved ones left behind let God's peace descend.
