Bettye Ruth McDONALD
McDONALD, Bettye Ruth 83, passed away peacefully October 11, 2016, surrounded by her family in Tampa, FL after enduring a long-term illness. Bettye was valedictorian of her graduating class at Landon High School in Jacksonville, while her late husband had a long and distinguished career with the Jacksonville Fire Department as well as the US Navy. They lived, worshiped and raised their family in the Southside of Jacksonville while residing in the same house for over 50 years. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 20 at 10:30 am the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL with Dr. Keith Foskey officiating. Bettye is survived by her sons, Kevin McDonald and his wife of Dallas, TX, Joel McDonald and his wife of McDonough, GA and David McDonald and his wife of Tampa, FL, as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Sue Bowden of Jacksonville, FL and Pat Kenney of Foley, AL; one brother, George McMath of Georgia. Bettye is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Clarence W. McDonald, Sr.; her eldest two sons, Whitney and William, and her brother Lamar McMath.
