WIGFIELD Betty (nee Smith), age 89, formerly of Wayne passed away peacefully on January 11, 2017. Betty was born in Paterson, grew up and lived in Prospect Park until moving to Wayne in 1955. Betty worked for Prospect Park National Bank for about 5 years until she married her husband, Charles Wigfield, in 1949 when she then became a fulltime homemaker. She was an active member of the Sixth Reformed Church in Paterson for many years, where she also sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Betty was also a member of the Ocean Grove Ladies Auxiliary of the Auditorium Ushers. She owned a home in Ocean Grove, NJ for over 40 years and spent the summers there with her family. Betty enjoyed traveling and socializing with her friends, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished 58 years of marriage to her husband Charles. Betty is survived by her husband Charles of Wyckoff, one son; David and his wife Kathleene of Wayne, two daughters Pamela Hess and her husband Christian of Kinnelon, and Allison Cantilina and her husband John of Milford, and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Margaret Simmons, Barbara Prince and Ruth Booth. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday January 14, 2017 at VanderMay Wayne Colonial Funeral Home, 567 Ratzer Rd, Wayne from 9-10AM. A funeral service will be held at 10AM following the visiting hours. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
