Betty L. Summitt 1932-2017 Betty Louise Summitt, 84, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2017 into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born April 20, 1932 in Pensacola, FL to Perry and Mary Fulford. She graduated from Pensacola High School in 1950 and received her nursing degree from the Mather School of Nursing in 1953. Betty married the love of her life Clyde in 1954 where they started their family with two boys Mark and Gary. After a career in nursing, she and Clyde started a new adventure when they purchased an RV. Their love for golf, square dancing, traveling, and each other provided countless memories with friends, new and old. Betty set and achieved many goals including running a marathon at age 50 and breaking eighty in golf. One of her most special moments was having Friday lunches with her grandson Garrett who affectionately called her Baba. She was a long time active member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Fulford; mother, Mary Murl Milan Fulford; devoted husband, Clyde Summitt; brother, Perry Fulford Jr.; and loving son, Mark Summitt. She is survived by son, Gary (Kency) Summitt; grandson, Garrett Summitt; sister, Muriel (Preston) Baswell and many wonderful cousins and nephews. Visitation will be held 5-7pm Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel on Airport Blvd. Family will also receive friends 9:30am until the Funeral Service to begin at 10:30am Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ron Lentine and Pastor Ron Pouliot officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to choosecovenant.org or your favorite charity.
