McMAHON, Betty Jane Gustafson Passed away in her home with her family by her side. Born February 24, 1919 in Alameda, California. Betty got her BA degree at SF State College and followed her dream of becoming a school teacher. She then went on to teach from kindergarten to 6th grade. She married Harvard Gustafson in 1941. Harvard passed away in 1991. Betty remarried Ernie McMahon in 2000. Ernie passed away in 2011. She and Harvard moved to Sonoma County in 1974 and during the next 41 years of her life, she kept very active- she played golf until she was 90!!! Bocce ball, lawn bowling, and taking her sweet dogs for walks were also things she enjoyed. She also loved bridge and spending time with her family and friends. Betty enjoyed traveling, here in the United States and also Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti ,the Orient and much more! Betty was known to always be on the go, she was always planning her next busy day trip or going to see a play or a show. She lived life to the fullest and is an inspiration to her family and friends. She was the most gentle and kindest woman you could meet but also the most determined to live her life on her terms up until the end. She will be very missed by her daughter Janey Mughannam, son-in-law Louie Mughannam, her grandson Chance Lauritzen, and granddaughter Brooke Reeder both of whom she was so proud of and the light in her life. There will be a private family farewell. Betty loved all animals and would wish that any memorial be given to the Sonoma County Humane Society in her name. God bless everyone.
