In memory of
Betty Hays Evans
Grandma Betty passed away silently in her sleep after suffering a debilitating fall in her home a week earlier. She was born and reared in Shasta County, the daughter of Mary Wilder and Harold Hays of Anderson. As a child she roamed the virgin forests near Burney where her father leased summer grazing lands for his sheep herds. When the herds were lost in the great depression, the family moved to Folsom where she completed high school. During WWII, she met and married Robert Evans in Sacramento in 1943 and raised two sons, Michael and Richard. Widowed in 2005, she lived in her own home in Orangevale, CA until moving to assisted living in 2012. She is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. A simple family-only graveside service at Fair Oaks cemetery, where her ashes will be joined with her husband's, will complete her journey.
