EDWARDS Betty M. Betty M. Edwards, age 75, of Mio, MI formerly of Toledo, OH passed away on February 8, 2017 in St. Luke's Hospital. She was born on October 11, 1941 in Toledo's Hungarian neighborhood to Peter and Suzanna (Ballo) Guba. Betty was a 1959 graduate of Waite High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the Philalethean Literary Society. Betty married the love of her life, Jerry Edwards on April 15, 1961. They made many friends on family camping trips in Michigan, and traveling to Florida. Recently she went on her dream trip to visit her brother and his family in Great Yarmouth, England from there she traveled to Paris, and ended the trip in Budapest, Hungary from where her parents immigrated. This trip meant the world to her! Betty's first job was as a secretary at Owens-Illinois, she later worked at Dial Finance and the Overmyer Company. After having children she was an amazing stay at home mom until 1976 when she went to work at Jeep where she was a final finish sprayer for over 10 years until she had to retire due to a disability. She was a strong, proud, loving mother and grandmother. The glue that held us together, and our rock in all storms. Betty passed on her Hungarian heritage and traditions thru cooking and baking of the traditional Hungarian dishes. Not only was Betty talented in the kitchen but she was also an artist. She was accomplished in acrylic painting and produced many works of art that are cherished by family and friends. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Jerry Edwards; daughter, Susan (Paul) Trestan; and son, Scott Edwards. Also surviving are her 4 grandchildren; Jacob and Lexie Trestan and Zak and Jessica Edwards and special pet, Spooky. The youngest of 5 children, she was preceded in death by her parents; and 4 siblings, Peter Guba, Margaret Kreis, Helen Honsaker and Susan Harmon. Betty made it clear that she didn't want a public funeral. Her husband and children prefer any contribution be made in her name to St. Jude's Hospital.
