Betty H. "Becky" Buckley
of Denver, Colorado, passed away at age 91 on January 4. A descendant of some of central Florida's earliest homesteaders and community builders, Becky obtained her bachelor's degree in chemistry from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, just after the end of World War II. She went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she met and married her husband of nearly fifty years, Page Scott Buckley. Becky was a tireless worker for civil rights (particularly minority voting rights), a county parks commissioner, a public-school helper, Planned Parenthood volunteer, and supporter of numerous environmental and political causes. An avid gardener, Becky could often be found tending her neighbors' gardens whenever she had some spare time. Beloved mother of Annie Buckley, Denver; Kebba Buckley Button (Ron), Phoenix; Jibby Buckley, Denver; and Bess Buckley (Paul Finer), of Gainesville, Florida. Joyfully loved grandmother of Jennifer, Kayleigh, Julian, and Adrian, and great-grandmother of Emily. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 16, 2017, at St. James Episcopal Church, 8235 W. 44th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80034.
