Oct. 12, 1928 - April 11, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Betty Lou (Kapka) Brown was born October 12, 1928, in Oklahoma City to Harlan and Ruth (Warlick) Kapka. Betty passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Broken Arrow, OK. She was 88. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Britton High School and went on to graduate from the OU School of Nursing. She enjoyed a career in nursing for over 40 years working at Children's and Baptist Integris Hospital. She was a longtime member of Village United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She also volunteered by preparing meals each week for Mobile Meals. In her younger days, she enjoyed square dancing and camping. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, JoAnne Kapka Murphy. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray Brown, of Bixby, OK; daughter, Nancy Nakayama & husband Yas, of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Marsha Grimm & husband Russell, of Bixby, OK; grandson, Ryan Grimm & wife Kendra, of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Whitney Grimm, of Bixby, OK; great-granddaughter, Finnley Grimm, of Denver, CO; brother, Jerry Kapka & wife Davon, of Yukon, OK; and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held Monday, April 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Village United Methodist Church with burial at the Resurrection Cemetery.
