In memory of
Betty Adams
1924 ~ 2017 Betty Ellis Adams, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on February 7, 2017. She joined her husband, John Hortt Adams, who preceded her in death by only 7 short weeks. They shared more than 72 happy years together and leave a posterity of 5 children, 57 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. Betty was born June 1, 1924, to James and Ada Ellis in Spring City, Utah. She developed a love for flowers and a hard work ethic from her mother, and the value of continual service from her father. Betty graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1942. After graduation, she went to Los Angeles, California, to visit her brother. She loved it so much she got a job at Lockheed Aircraft and decided to stay. It was while living in Los Angeles that she met her sweetheart John Adams. They were married on May 25, 1944, in the Manti, Utah, temple. After John's service in the Navy during WWII, the couple moved to Provo, Utah, where they raised their family and lived out their lives. Betty is known for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, her tireless genealogy work, and delicious dinners, rolls, and pies. When she no longer had small children at home, she went to work at Utah Valley Hospital in Quality, where she was a valued employee from 1984-1992. Betty was actively engaged in the LDS church. Among her many callings, she served as Stake Relief Society President, Young Women's President, and Primary President. Betty and her husband John were called to the Washington Seattle Mission (1989-1990) where she had a great impact on those she served. Betty loved her children and grandchildren and was a great example. She was dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle, was a lifelong learner, and provided tireless service. She maintained her beautiful yard and plentiful garden, insisted on learning the latest technology, and served others until days before her death. Betty was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Her strong example will live on in the lives of her posterity. Betty is survived by her children: J. Robert (Mary Allen), Larry, Jeff (Lorraine VanderToolen), Cynthia (Craig) Tracy, and Pamela (Roland) Henrie.
