Bert Barale III
Bert Barale III, 82, of Washington, died Friday, January 13, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born June 19, 1934, in Washington, a son of the late Bert Barale Jr. and Rose Shapach Barale. Mr. Barale was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School. He worked for Mesta Machine as an apprentice machinist and later for Millcraft Industries, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Washington County League, as well as the Claysville and Marianna sportsmans clubs. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Mr. Barale served in the 2nd Aircraft Wing of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict, receiving the National Defense and Good Conduct medals. He was an active member of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of American Legion, Mon Valley Leathernecks and Marine Corps League Detachment 1138. He was awarded Marine of the Year in 2010. On June 1, 1957, in Canonsburg, he married Joan Broman. Mrs. Barale survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Linda (Craig) Rumbaugh; three grandchildren, Jeremy (Rebecca) Reed, Dr. Craig Rumbaugh II and Shane (Michele) Rumbaugh; a great-grandchild, Marshall Reed; a sister, Judy (Ronald) Guest; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, John Barale, and a sister, Rose Davidson. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, with Father Michael Zavage officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Marine Corps League, Detachment 1138, P.O. Box 137, Washington, PA 15301.
