Bernice B. Pieper, 90, of Sterling passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Gering, Nebraska. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14 at First Baptist Church with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 16 at Riverside Cemetery. Bernice was born north of Paxton, Nebraska on December 16, 1926 to Doris (Harding) and Glen Bryant. She graduated from Paxton High School in 1945. She married Orville Pieper in July 24, 1955 at the Lutheran Church in Paxton, NE. She attended Midland College in Kearney, NE and graduated from UNC with a BA degree. Bernice taught second grade at Norfolk, NE for 3 years and high school English and History at Lone Star for a few years. She also owned an ornamental plaster craft shop. Bernice was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Sterling where she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was a Girl Scout leader in the early 1960's. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, painting, reading, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bernice is survived by her son, Todd Pieper; daughter, Kathleen Trum and her husband James; grandchildren, Jeremy Trum, Jason Trum, Brandon Pieper and wife Afton, Christopher Pieper, Joel Trum, Zachariah Pieper and wife Randi Rae, Mark Pieper, and Jacob Pieper; great-grandchildren, Elija Pieper, Jackson Trum, Juliet Trum, Sephra Pieper, and 2 more great-grandchildren on the way; brother, Boyd Bryant; sisters, Gayle Wid, Cassie Welch, Norma Tridle; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Pieper; her parents, Doris and Glen Bryant; mother-in-law, May Pieper; father-in-law, Ervin Pieper; sister-in-law, Belva Harty.
